What ingredients you will need (get your list ready!) for these Overloaded Cookie Bars:
- Butter
- Brown Sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla Essence, pure is always best!
- Baking Soda
- All-Purpose Flour
- Nutella
- Kit Kat Bars
- Chocolate Chips, your choice
Equipment you will need:
- A large bowl
- A medium bowl
- A spatula
- An 8x8 baking tin
- Parchment paper or foil
- An oven
How to make them:
Start with preheating your oven to 350°F. Line the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment, leaving an overhang on all sides to easily lift the bars out of the pan when cool. Set this aside.
Cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add in egg yolks and mix until combined. Mix in vanilla. In separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Add flour mixture to butter and sugar and mix until combined. Stir in chocolate chips, keep a few aside to place on top of your bars. Guess what? You've just made cookie dough! You could bake this by itself but it's way more delicious to have the layers. Divide the ball into three equal portions, I weighed mine and divided it by three and then weighed out each one.
To assemble them: In your baking pan, add in one portion of cookie dough and smooth out. Top with a layer of Kit Kats and add another layer of cookie dough on top of the Kit Kats. Smooth on the Nutella in an even layer and top with your last portion of cookie dough. Press in the chocolate chips. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes until the edges are golden brown. Let cool completely before removing from the tin.
Enjoy these warmed up with some ice cream.
